The event is in honor of Elliott and Henry Johnson, sons of Mrs. Johnson, a Spanish teacher here at UHS. Elliott and Henry have Duchenne muscular dystrophy, a fatal muscle wasting disease. Few young men with Duchenne survive beyond age 30. You can make a difference in the lives of Elliott and Henry and all boys and young men living with this debilitating disease by showing your support. Register, get together with your friends and make a team. Set a fundraising goal. Volunteer your time. Do what you can. What if it took only one person to make a difference? What if it was you? Registration is open at www.parentprojectmd.org/unionville. They are also forms in the main office. All proceeds benefit Parent Project Muscular Dystrophy, the largest nonprofit organization in the United States focused entirely on Duchenne.

Used Book Sale Volunteers Needed to Sort Books: Fulfill Your Community Service Hours

The Used Book Sale needs many volunteers to sort books beginning on January 28 and throughout the month of February. The first sorting day will be on Saturday January 28 and on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays after school as well as some Saturdays leading up to the actual Book Sale days at the end of February. This is a great way to fulfill community service hours. Sign up sheets for the first week of sorting days are posted in the main office or you can go to the website, www.uhsbooksale.org to sign up online. Be sure to sign up in advance to guarantee that you get the hours!!
